Discover a Winter Adventure Wonderland at Arrowhead Provincial Park
Experience Northern Muskoka’s beautiful winter landscape at Arrowhead Provincial Park, just a short drive from downtown Huntsville.
The park’s star attraction is the winter skating trail. Bring your skates or rent them at the park and glide through 1.3 km of snow-covered forest. Fire and Ice Nights are pure magic. Every Friday and Saturday night beginning in late January, the ice trail is lit with glowing torches for you to enjoy skating beneath the stars (dependent on weather and ice conditions).
However, Arrowhead has so much more to offer in winter than just skating. The park grooms and maintains more than 28 km of Nordic ski trails for both classic and skate skiing. There are a variety of trails for hiking and 8km of snowshoeing trails including the popular Stubbs Falls trail.
Arrowhead also has a Visitor Centre with a warm-up room, where visitors can sit by the fireplace after enjoying the outdoors. A Pro-Shop in the Visitor Centre has rental equipment for classic skiing, skate skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating. The large room with the fireplace also has tables and chairs where you can have your lunch.
Looking to avoid the crowds? Plan a weekday trip! Arrowhead’s busiest times are typically any Saturday and Sunday between 10am & 4pm and on Friday and Saturday evenings for Fire and Ice Nights. So why not stop by mid-week to enjoy everything the Park has to offer without the lines!
You can now even stay overnight in the winter! Visitors love spending winter nights in 1 of Arrowhead’s 13 cozy camp cabins. Camp cabins are all one room with a rustic wood interior. The cabin sleeps five on a queen bed and double/single bunk bed. Cabins feature a kitchenette with a microwave, mini fridge and counter space. There is a dining table and chairs for inside meals. Mattresses are provided for a comfortable sleep. Outside you will find a gas barbeque and picnic table. A propane/electric fireplace provides additional comfort. Once again, winter weekends tend to fill up well in advance, but there are often midweek vacancies. Check the Arrowhead reservation site for availability.
Before visiting be sure to check out the Arrowhead Snow Report and the Arrowhead Park Blog for full information on snow levels and more.
