About
The Oxtongue Rapids Park and Trail is one of the most beautiful spots in Muskoka, so relax and enjoy. This rugged terrain highlights natural grown forest, has a steep incline and a steep descent. It is meant for a good nature walk. The untouched perimeter leads the way to wildlife, birds, butterflies and nature. Share in the splendor of making the markers, and be sure to look up! Seasonal washrooms and picnic facilities are available including a small covered shelter.
CAUTION: This trail follows the shore of a fast moving river with rocky slopes to the river’s edge. Parents must keep small children close at all times.
Access to Trail: From the intersection of Highway 35 and Highway 60, follow Highway 60 east 2 km to Oxtongue Rapids Park Road. Turn right and follow this paved road 1 km. At this point, the road becomes a narrow gravel road. Proceed 2 km to the monument in Oxtongue Rapids Park.
From the monument, travel west along the trail to the left of the road you arrived on. At times the trail will follow the road itself as it comes quite close to the river. Trail length is about 1 km (1250 steps) one way. Return the same way or follow the road back to the monument.
Distance (km): 2 km
