Girls-only fun: Eat, play, shop at Girlfriends’ Getaway Weekend

Girlfriends! It’s time for some you time. Girlfriends’ Getaway Weekend is back November 11-13, 2022, with a stellar lineup of girls-only fun and relaxation.

Start your weekend off right with a special two-night package at Deerhurst Resort that includes accommodations, a Friday night kick-off party complete with entertainment and finger foods, Saturday breakfast buffet, a selection of fitness classes and workshops, an onsite marketplace and shuttle to Downtown Huntsville, and a Saturday night concert with The Reklaws followed by an after-party.

And that’s not all! There’s a variety of on- and off-site entertainment and activities so you can bond with your besties.

Shop ‘til you drop

Take the GGW shuttle to historical Downtown Huntsville and stroll along its charming Main Street where you can shop to your heart’s content for your newest fashion find, stunning jewellery, home decor and art, or find the perfect gift for your loved ones.

If fashion is your passion, check out Reflections of Muskoka, Wolfe Co Apparel, Zahara’s Boutique, Plum Loco, or the boutique selection at The Great Vine. For more casual or outdoor wear, Big Bear and Algonquin Outfitters have got you covered. Accessorize with jewellery from Ron Henry Jewellers, Muskoka Jewellery Design, or The Topiary. (Off the beaten path: Fibre Studio and Gallery on Muskoka Rd 3 North is your source for funky fashion, fibre art, pottery, and more.)

Shopping in Downtown Huntsville

For goods handmade with love, find the work of local and Canadian artists and artisans at Artisans of Muskoka, Coles Art Market, The Friendly Fox, and Two Horse Gallery, or the Eclipse Art Gallery at Deerhurst Resort. (Off the beaten path: The Oxtongue Craft Cabin and Gallery in Dwight, Muskoka’s oldest gallery, has a wide variety of Canadian-made arts and crafts)

Spruce up your home for the holidays or for always! Stop in at Decorated on Main or The Wooden Penny for stylish home and cottage decor, or pick up some sensational seasonal finds at Christmas Tyme. (Off the beaten path: The Cutter’s Edge on Howland Drive, Sandhill Nursery on Muskoka Rd 3 E, The Old Palmer House in Dwight, Lake of Bays Garden Centre in Dwight, and Robinson’s General Store in Dorset offer a variety of giftware and home decor.)

Or stop in at one of Downtown Huntsville’s many specialty shops: Soapstones for luxurious skincare products, The Record Shoppe for some tunes to groove to, Music on Main to make some music of your own, Minds Alive! or Up North Games for toys and games for kids little and big, Muskoka Bicycle Pro Shop for cycling gear, and The Nutty Chocolatier to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Hungry?

All that shopping can work up an appetite! Stop in at a local downtown eatery for a delicious bite out.

For casual fare and local brews, Canvas Brewing Co., Family Place Restaurant, the Huntsville Brewhouse, Main St Local Kitchen, The Mill on Main, Music on Main, and On the Docks Pub have just the ticket.

Or sample the best of international cuisine without leaving Main Street! Seng’s Thai Cuisine, Marigold Unique Flavours (East Indian and Indo-Chinese), Gangnam Korea (Korean Fried Chicken), That Little Place by the Lights (Italian), Allora (wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, open for dinner only), and The Artisan House (‘Mediterranean meets West Coast’) all serve up tasty, world-class fare.

Just a little further away — and worth the drive! — you’ll find: 3 Guys and a Stove (Hwy 60), Slice of Muskoka (West Rd), Tall Trees (Main St W), Mottbora Sushi (King William Street), and Henrietta’s Pine Bakery (King William St).

And there’s even more to do!

Take a breath-taking evening stroll beneath thousands of lights at Eclipse Walk with Light, an interactive light show set amidst the pioneer village at historical Muskoka Heritage Place.

Puzzle your way out of an escape room and channel your inner Lumberjill at ZigZag Escape Rooms and Axe Throwing right at Deerhurst Resort, or conquer Muskoka’s Incredible Race starting at Huntsville’s Avery Beach.
