Skijoring in Huntsville and Lake of Bays
Looking to add some more wow to your winter? Try skijoring! You and fido can cruise along the trails together. This Scandinavian specialty is simple to do, even for relative beginners — it’s like dog sledding without the sled! If your dog is large enough (at least 30 lbs.) and strong enough to pull, all you need is some simple equipment: cross-country ski gear for you, a harness for your dog (not a collar), and a skijoring belt and line to connect the two of you.
While the closest ski trail that permits skijoring is the Sunday Lake dog sledding trail in Algonquin Park, you can practice your skills on a quiet, snowy backroad (keep an eye out for vehicles), backcountry trail, or frozen lake. Your four-legged friend will thank you!
