About

The Hunters Bay Trail is a 3.8km walking, running and cycling trail. It begins at the Centre Street bridge near and winds along the river, under the railway trestle, along the south side of Hunters Bay, through the Avery Beach Park and onwards.

There is a 450 foot section of the trail that floats on Hunters Bay. The floating part of the trail is an ideal place to swim or fish from, or to tie up a boat and walk along the trail. There are small pull-offs along the trail to stop and enjoy the scenery including Orchard Park at the southern tip of the bay, which looks down the full length of the bay. The trail is easy to moderate in level of difficulty. Parking is also available at Avery Beach Park, on the lake side of Yonge Street. The park also has a swimming area, volleyball sand court, dock, and boat launch ramp.

You can now enjoy the Hunters Bay Trail extension!

Hunters Bay Trail is part of The Great Trail (formerly the Trans Canada Trail), and the newest section had been identified as a gap in the nation-wide trail. The most intriguing part of the new 840-metre section of trail is its floating boardwalk that passes underneath Highway 11 to connect East Airport Road to Lakeshore Road, offering hikers a new perspective of Hunters Bay.
